The Student Council Association (SCA) is the student government for
Forrest Elementary. The SCA consists of representatives from each
classroom in 3rd-5th grade. This group is involved in making important
decisions for the student body by sharing information with their classmates
and bringing the ideas of their classmates to the SCA. They also assist
with many school activities such as community service projects, selecting
spirit days, and fundraisers.
One of the ongoing community service projects of the SCA is our bi-annual Forrest Clean Up and Gardening Day. With support from the community and our community partners, the SCA hosts a Saturday clean up when Forrest Families can clean up our school campus and garden in our butterfly garden. We hope to expand our garden to include fruit trees, herbs, and vegetables. We will create a hands-on, outdoor learning space where students can cultivate, care for, and study a variety of herbs. The garden will serve as a living classroom that integrates science, environmental studies, and nutrition education. Through planting, observing, and maintaining the garden, students will learn about plant life cycles, sustainability, and healthy eating.
