From the desk of Mrs. Sutton: Hello and welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! I am proud and honored to serve as the Assistant Principal at Forrest Elementary. I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Intermediate Education with Concentrations in Reading, Language Arts, and Social Studies from East Carolina University. I graduated with a Masters Degree in Education and Human Development (Administration and Supervision) from The George Washington University, and completed doctoral coursework at The College of William and Mary. This is my my 26th year as an assistant principal with Hampton City Schools. I previously served in this capacity at Phillips Elementary, Tarrant Middle, Lindsay Middle, and Spratley Middle School. My professional experience also includes tenure as a classroom teacher of grades 4-9 in Hampton, Newport News, North Carolina, and Maryland. My experiences as both a classroom teacher and administrator have provided me with valuable knowledge and resources to be, both, an effective instructional and strategic leader, as well as a strong advocate for our children's social and academic success.

On a more personal note, I hail from the Tar Heel State, but I have been a proud Hampton Resident since 1990. I have been married for 39 years, and my three daughters are all graduates of Kecoughtan High School and state universities. In my spare time, I enjoy singing, playing the piano, reading, painting, and writing poetry. I invite you to take an active role in your child's education. It truly takes a village to raise our children. I look forward to working together with you this year! My door is always open to all of you!
